how to "plant" java moss

ok so i made a DIY cave out of cros-stitching stuff... it covers from front to back so u can see into it... i wanted to cover it in java moss... so i bought some and now i am wondering if i put it on right.... i really just sat it on top of it... weighed it down with the weights it came with and a rock... is that the way to do it or do i need to rethink it somehow..

I used a rubberband to stick my java moss to a rock, not sure if it was the "right" thing to do but it's worked out so far... after a couple of weeks it seems to be sticking fairly well, i guess ill take off the rubberband sooner or later

I agree with David - with java moss you can just tie it to whatever you wish it to anchor onto.

Using pure cotton thread is nice because after a while it disinigrates and you dont have to worry about removing it.

also, if its the cross stitching stuff im thinking of, you can just poke the root of the java moss thru the tiny holes and it will be fine ...

once it's established it stickes on it's own - i squeezed mine into a small dent in my bogwood and it stayed there looking weird for a month or two - then it started to spread out.
- now I find bits of it establishing its' self everywhere!

when I got it, I saw it on the wood in the display tanks in the lfs and thought that looked nice.
- I asked the guy if I could get some - and he said "yeah sure just reach into the tank and grab some - It was tough to get a decent ammount of it off the wood but I just scraped off a few strands nad now it's growing like crazy!.

It'll stick its' self to anything it touches as it has very fine "hairs" for want of a better word.
