What kind of plants should I get?

Hi, i'm seriously thinking about putting real plants in my 10 gallon tank. I have 2 10 watt floresent () light bulbs. I was wondering what kind of plants would be suitable for my tank? I also have a mystery snail if that would cause any problems. Any help or suggestions would be great! thanks.

Start with easy plants like hornwort, java moss, java fern, and anubia none of these plants are actually planted in the substrate. The hornwort floats and the others can be tied to either rocks or drift wood. You don't want to use soft white bulbs for a planted tank so if that is what you have you will probably want to change those out before getting plants. If is the run of the mill mystery snail you shouldn't have any problem with it. They actually help by eating dead or dieing plants sort of like little gardaners also with slow growing plants like the anubia they keep the algae off the leaves.

I also suggest Cryptocorynes. They do well in medium light and come in many attractive shapes and colours.

You need to make sure your snail is well-fed. Not only will it eat the algae but will eat the plants too.
