5 Nano Planted Help
hey guys, my 5 gal nano is going to soon be heavily planted. right now im using an 18 inch fixture sitting over the top of the tank, measuring at 15 watts. im looking into plants like HC, but already have micro sword and some unknown plants. I gues what im trying to ask is do you think 3 WPG would be good enough to keep a carpeted tank with HC? I will probably change my light to a plant grow bulb, because it is now just an eclipse natural daylight.
Also, does anybody know where i could get a small portion of HC? i have only been able to find larger amounts for 40 bucks!
thanks guys!

In 3 WPG you should be able to grow pretty much anything! A carpet of HC should do well. Remember to post pics!

I usually get my plants from a forum www.aquaticplantcentral.com just keep your eyes open. Some times you can get a ROAK. I haven't tried HC yet maybe some day.

thanks hatchet and joy! I was pretty sure that 3WPG would be enough, i just want to be careful because if the light is not enough, the HC will grow towards it trying to get more light, and will ruin my look. Ill watch carefully, and have another 15 watt fixture i can add if necessary.
I have a journal started in the members tanks forum, with a couple very bad quality pictures , but i should have some good quality ones soon

Make sure you get your ferts and CO2 right as well! If you don't do that your doomed.

Not sure how good that will be, I'm no guru at this, ask about it on www.PlantedTank.net, and don't face the consequences I faced with bad fertilization/CO2!

A lot of the sellers on plantedtank also sell on aquaticplantcentral sometimes with a different name and most people will actually help you get a start on plants if you want. Several people get a desk lamp from home depot for light over 2.3 to 5 gallon tanks. Thanks for that link I don't know how I missed that one lol!
