How to tie Java Fern, and what are these plants

Hello

I bought some plants from this new LFS we found and we washed them and placed them in the tank. But I don't know what they are what do you think are they? There are some pics below - Thanks!

Oh and I bought some Java Fern and I have a little trouble tying them to the rocks. I tied them with the rubber band sideways on the round rocks, but I'm not quite sure..... There is a pick below and I moved the Java Fern roots a little up so it won't get buried. How can I tie it properly?

Thanks in advance

Depending on its size, the first one seems to be either some kind of crypt or some kind of sword (swords tend to be big, crypts are usually a few inches tall). Not sure about the second.

And you picked a tough rock to attach Java fern to. I'm not sure how you'd attach it to something so smooth.

The plant attached to the rock is not Java fern, which is why you're having a hard time! Java ferns have a horizontal root stock that makes it easy to attach.

It's a crypt - I think Crispatula - and you need to bury the root end in the substrate.

The second pic looks like Water Sprite.

Whoops! Hehe, sorry! Yes it is not Java Fern but Crispatula, thanks for correcting me! I'll be correcting the planting method soon. Thanks for the replies, more replies are appreciated!

One thing about crypts - when you plant them, but sure that's where you want them. I found out they REALLY don't like being moved once they've rooted!

Either way, they're likely going to melt away. They should grow back in a week or so. I think that it's the crypts' method of dealing with different water qualities. Most plants' leaves are able to withstand a certain range of parameters. I wonder if crypts, instead, grow leaves that are specific to a particular water quality.
Despite their habit of melting when water quality or lighting changes, they seem to be pretty hardy plants. Mine are working on creating a mini forest in my tank.

I've had a crypt that had a root system twice the size of the actual plant! It was a baby as well...

Maybe thats why many pictures of the same crypt look so different? Perhaps I am going to have to try that experiment! They are great plants though - a little slow to start maybe but they don't stop after that!
