Moving planted tanks

Hello all,
I might be moving at the end of July.
I was wondering how to move a planted tank, it is my 60g that I am concerned about. The smaller tanks should be ok, by emptying most of the water.
But the 60g I am not sure how to do it. This tank is heavily planted.
Any suggestions?

Well, I'm moving my betta tank and my fully planted 29 gal tank in 2 weeks, so I'll let you know what I end up doing and how well it worked

Tank I'm moving:

Ok Thanks, Keeps me posted.
By the way your tank looks awesome.
What is that growing on the driftwood?

You can take out all the water except for maybe 1/2 inch, and cover the top of the aquarium tightly with plastic wrap. That should keep the plants moist enough so they survive a move - depending on how long the move will take of course!

A tank filled with water might be a problem to move because of its heavy load. You probably need more than 5 helpers! Barbrella's idea about keeping the aquarium tightly wrapped with plastic is good, but also worry about how you gonna carry it and the gravel and plants being messed up if the aquarium is moved too much. Good luck!

The plastic wrap is a good idea!

Moving that tank like that might be a problem. That tank is heavy empty, so I am sure with the gravel and water in it will be problem. I guess all I can do is hope for the best.
My biggest worry is something happening to the tank in the move (cracked or broken), then what do I do with the fish! LOL
Thanks for you suggestions!

I moved a 5ft planted, i just pulled it down fully, moved it, then set it back up. Safest option for me *L*. The tank weighs a lot empty, let alone trying to move it with 60kg of substrate in it, plus added weight of decor. A cracked or dropped tank was not a nice thought.

I also would lay a thick pad down to set it on and wrap the whole tank in a large blanket or quilt after it is in the truck/trailer so if anything falls or slides it is less likely to crack/break/scratch anything...good luck.

Sorry, just saw this -- on the drift wood is Java Moss and Anubia Nana and Coffeefolia. The Java Moss was pretty thin when I put it on in April, but it's almost two inches thick in places now...I might sell some to my LFS before moving. The shrimp love burrowing in it though.
