can anyone identify this (these) plants?

i have no idea where they came from. i have bought many live plants so obviously from one of them but i never saw the plant physically when adding other plants to my tank.

they look like minature lilly pads and float on the surface. each one is approximately 1/4" diameter. they started out as a single plant a month and a half ago....now there are hundreds of them. they have a single root that hangs down into the water about two inches. they dont attach to anything in particular and will float around freely. because of my current on the surface they congregate on one side of the tank and form a lilly pad like environment. i absolutely love them. i went back to the fish shop where i got al my plants but do not see them in any of his tanks.

i cant seem to identify them but would be curious to find out what they are. its amazing that they grow in my tank considering my watt per gallon is around .75.

Duckweed. Because they're at the surface, they're more efficient at gathering light than submerged plants.

If you like them, they're not harmful (unless you have labyrinth fish, in which case they may make it hard for the fish to breathe). If you don't like them, get some surface turbulence going, and they'll disappear.

Goldfish love to eat it if you know anyone who has one Duckweed frequently comes on other plants as a hitch hiker and can quickly cover the surface of the water.

Okay, that's a point, too. They could be harmful to the plants below them, blocking the light out.
