Java Fern Reproduction or Plant Parasite?
I'm familiar with Java fern reproductive leaf splitting but my Java fern has a bunch of tiny leaves growing from the underside face of its leaves. The little leaves have runners or roots attached to the Java fern leaf. The leaves are small and about the same shape as Java fern leaves, but they don't look like Java fern leaves. Of course appearances often vary a lot in plant leaves within the same species. My various forms of water sprite (planted vs. floating, mature vs. immature) don't look at all alike!
Regardless, the Java fern isn't very attractive with all the little leaves sprouting off the underside of most of its leaves and I'm thinking I might want to try to remove the growths. Any idea what's going on? If the tiny leaves are parasites, I'll try to erradicate them. If this is some other Java fern reproductive mechanism, I could try to "replant" them on my bogwood.
I could shoot and post some pics, if it would help with a diagnoses.
Thanks much.
