probably because the lights in your tank arent strong enough. for most plants, you need about 1.5-2 watts per gallon. so for a 20 gallon tank, you want around 30-40 watts of light. also, are you adding any plant supplements to the tank?

Hi lilsoccakid,

oh eh my tank is 595 litre that is approx. = to 155 gallon...I think.

that means I will need 232 to 310 watt lights??
I am currently using 40 watts light.

I add Seachem's Flourish plant supplement.

Thanks.

Well bigger tanks can get by with far less light, and also many plants don't need tons of light to begin with. If your giving your plants macros in flourish, they may be lacking in micros ie trace elements and iron etc. Ferts are a funny thing though, its a very fine line of not enough to having to much, then you start to feed the algae.

But basically what plants in specific are your taking about that are yellowing? As it could be many many things that are causing it, may be as simple as planting a plant that is not meant to be buried. A non true aquatic plant that is simply dying, a plant that needs high light and or c02 and a fert schedule, a plant that really does not like high light. A plant that thrives with fertile substrate. Or a plant that prefers water that does not match yours, some like soft water others like hard, some are not fussy. Or many many other factors?

Hi MrWaxhead,

I believe my plant is a Valsinaria spiralis.
The yellowing begins from the tips to the middle of their long leaves.

I have planted their roots inside the gravel along the sides of the waterflow column.

I only add Seachem's Flourish plant supplement for them.

The other 2 plants I have are Water Wisteria & Hornwart.

I chose these 3 plants because I was told they are low maintenance.
