Does anybody else use this as a plant for their tank?

I've only ever seen them for sale as houseplants but they seem to live underwater pretty well, or with some leaves sticking out the top. The fish like to nibble on them with no ill effect.

Just wondered why they are never sold as aquatic plants.

I would definitely add this plant to a natural planted DIY nitrate filter as described in the DIY section by timandkaren !

I have known it to grow with the roots just in water for years and thrive, I don't know about totally submerged.

Yes very pretty plant and very definitely not aquatic.
Just putting the roots in the tank will suck Nitrates up and the fish love the roots but the leaves will rot and pollute your tank so best not to submerge.
