just went out and purchased some live plants today.. they were in little baskets surounded by spongy type material... rinsed them and put them into the tank... i have never had live plants before in an aquarium. we tried bulbs but they never bloomed just began to rot so figured i just get some already growing...was just wondering do i remove them from the basket?

My LFS told me that I could keep it in the basket or remove it- just a personal choice. I removed mine and panted it in the gravel and its doing great as of now. I am starting to learn about plants and I am not an expert yet, so you may want to wait for someone with more live plant experience to confirm my answer. Good luck

I can't remember where I read it but it said one should remove the plants from the little basket.

If you think of it this way, if you were to go buy a garden plant from say Lowes, you'd see it in a pot. When you get back home, you'd remove it from the pot to plant it into the ground.
