Okay, so I finally got the courage to try live plants in one of my tanks instead of plastic. It is a 29 gallon and has a single light strip with a flourescent bulb. What do I need to add to my tank to make sure that my plants thrive? Do I need special lighting, or will the florescent work? I have only planted 3 plants, so it is not heavily planted.

Check out your plants light needs at www.plantgeek.net You calculate the watts / gallon depending on if your plants need high, medium, or low lights.

You may start out by getting a different hood that will allow two strips of lighting. It just depends on the plants you choose.
