Dead Java Moss?

I got my Java Moss today. And when I open the paper it was in it was mostly brown but with a few green patches. I take it that the moss is dead. With good lighting can I bring it back to life? Because it is in my main tank right now and I do not want any decaying java moss raising my ammonia levels.

How brown? If there is any green, I would give it a few days before you worry too much. It usually doesn't require high light, but until you give it a few days, don't discard....Then when you can tell what is going to bounce back, you can always trim the really dead stuff off.

Often old growth looks darker, like a really dark, almost black, and new growth is brighter. Hope it's ok.

hello

java moss is very hardy and I doubt it's all the way dead. Just keep it wet(in the water) and it will probly start growing but it does grow slow unfortunately
