I'm thinking of getting some for my 20 gallon freshwater guppy tank, but I heard they can be quite annoying because their fragile leaves often break and becomes a mess in the tank, but they can be nice plants, too. What do you think or opinion about Cabombas? Do you like 'em? Do you hate 'em? What wattage of light do they need? Are they good plants?
Thanks in advance!

Like hornwort, cabombas also secrete an enzyme that suppresses the growth of blue-green algae. They're fast growers in medium-low light (I have a little over 1wpg in my 56g), and do need to be kept trimmed. I just cut off the tops and replant them. I've not had a problem with them breaking off leaves -- my water sprites do that much more often.
I love that plant. My fish did not eat it like they did to my corkscrews. Also does not require to much light and a C02 thing is not necessary. I like cobombas.
