Can you bury the rock where a Java Fern is attached to?

Hello

I'm planning to get some Java Fern for my tank. I heard that they do best when their roots grow attached on an ornament or a rock. But if I let them grow on a rock, can I bury the rock in the gravel?

Thanks in advance!

You can not cover the rhizome with gravel. It will cause the plant to rot.

Right -- you can bury the rock, but leave enough sticking out above the gravel so the rhizome is above the gravel.

Ok, thanks! But I heard that the roots will infest the tank. Is this true?

I think that's java moss you're thinking of, not java fern.

eh even if they do start to grow to long you will have plenty of time I can say from experience that java fern is incredibly slow growing. And also Java fern is very resistant to being "planted" somewhere. Don't be suprised if the roots are just flailing around.

good luck and I hope I've been helpful :]
