I've noticed that my plants have been getting this fungus type of thing growing on them. 'Whitish' with tiny spots, and growing more every week unless i take out the affected plants. The Amazon swords and eel grass aren't being affected while the honwort and some hairgrass, or something like that, are getting affected. When i do water changes i wipe it off or if the plant has gone brown, because of the fungus thing, i remove the plant.
Heres some pics...

From far it looks like dust...

have you contacted your local pet store? thaey might help or heres what i would do........take all of your fish out (maby temperarely in another tank?) completely scrub everything in your tank (filter, hiding spots, ect.) get rid of all the plants and buy new ones then do the whole sit the bag in the top of the water rutine and let your fish get used to the water again and retreat it (practicly start over with the same fish) but you might want to try your local pet store (maby bring them a samepl?0 they might be able to tell you exactly what it is

That's a really expensive response. Perhaps a better immediate response would be to put the fish in a q/hospital tank while dosing the tank with fungicide and/or maracyn.
And unless Sabi has an actual fish store nearby, a pet store will likely be less than helpful. Most general pet store employees know next to nothing about caring for any of the pets they sell.

Sabi, have you visited plantgeek.net?

Before you start ripping things up and QTing your fish, take a look there and see if it can help you identify what you have there. It may be a form of algae. There was a picture there that looked similar to what you have, but I cant tell from your picture if its the same... take a quick look and see if it may be.

I wish you the best of luck finding the answers...

(you could also ask Dino, CW or Butterfly)

Thanks for the replies.
I did visit plantgeek and there is some help. Thing is it doesn't fit exactly to any of the algae types. From what i made out watching closely after doing a water change, gravel vac etc, it is the dust settling on the plants after being stirred up. Whats happening afterwards is that the mold/algae forms.

Hmm, i'll have a try at my lfs and see if they know anything. As i said it's not all the plants that are affected mainly the hairgrass and hornwort. Basically the plants that can trap the dust...
As for starting afresh, unless it is harmful the fish i'd rather not. Emptying a whole 67gal, whew! lol, but of course if it has to be done, it has to.

As sirdarksol said, don't bother asking anything at a pet store.

There is a planted tank forum, and if they don't know the answer, no one does!

They're very helpful there.

You definitely are being helpful (sorry that my response sounded clipped, no offense meant). The best way we can work things out around here is to bounce ideas around until we find something good. Your original idea was good, just a tactic that would probably be best to employ after all other attempts failed.
