I noticed a post that mentioned carpet moss would make a great susbstrate. Does this mean other plants can grown on this, as in take up root in it instead of gravel? How could I accomplish this?

LOL , I still don't think I get it. Are you saying that mosses could be used as a substrate, i.e. instead of gravel? If so, I've never heard of anything like this. And I don't think that would work, lol. Unless you're talking about dried PEAT MOSS, which can be mixed with a nutrient-rich substrate in a planted tank: http://home.infinet.net/teban/substrat.htm
Well, me being new to platns in general, I hadn't herd fo much. But, yes, the reply on plantgeek was about using moss, living moss, like teh carpet moss. You kno when you use the little thingy where moss grows on to make walls. Well they use it as carpt and mentioned about using it to grow plants on. NOt at all speficic, but, thats wy I'm asking.
Sor ry for the spelling. I guess it has to do with plants. since CO2 is produced when making alcohol. But consuming alfcohol makes FUN! hehea hicup!
LOL, you can use any moss as a carpeting plant, but not mix it with your substrate/gravel! LOL Mosses need light, as any plant, to grow. If you bury them in the gravel, they'll die, decay, and possibly contaminate your gravel if not removed.
