Crazy about Having Live Plants! Please help!

I'm dying to have some live plants for my 20-gallon freshwater aquarium, because I really want to have a natural theme for my tank. The problem is, the pet shops around me don't have any! They say they'll have some soon. It's been a year and a half and still nothing!

I'm thinking about going plastic, but I just can't! I need live plants!!! Please help me!

We have a LOT of plants here on our house(VERY MANY, trust me) and my uncle(who is a veterinarian) says that we have a lot of plants here that we can use for the aquarium, be we seldom meet him! Can you give me a list of some land plants that can live in my aquarium? Some pictures, maybe? If you do, then you are a lifesaver. Thanks in advance!!!

You should read this first: General Guide to Low-Light Planted Tanks - ask if you have any questions after reading this. Don't skip anything, read everything!

My local fish store also almost never has any live plants. And if they do happen to have any, it's all usually decaying and dead. That's why I buy live plants online.

These are some better known plant websites to buy from:

I ordered one of the 'plant packs' from liveaquaria (plus 2 Amazon Swords) -- they're supposed to arrive on Thursday, so I'll report back on my experience with them.

I love liveaquaria, except for the shipping prices. I'd see if anyone on aquabid.com has anything.
There are nearly no terrestrial plants that will survive indefinitely in an aquatic setting. There are some that can survive very well being partially submerged (leaves need to be out of the water, though). In fact, many of the plants that places like Petsmart carry are actually terrestrial plants that can survive submersion for a week or a month or a few months before beginning to die.
Java fern and java moss are two of my favorite plants, and anacharis is a really good beginner plant.
If you have friends who have live plants, you can usually use cuttings from them to propagate plants.
