amazon sword in tahitian moon sand?

i'm getting new gravel/sand for my 20gal. i have plants in there but they're all on driftwood except for one, not sure what it is. it might be amazon sword, i bought it at petsmart on a whim, but its doing fine in regular pea gravel with some plant tabs near the roots.

i would like to switch to black tahitian moon sand, will this plant be able to grow in it without a huge problem or damaging its roots. would it be best to just get black pea gravel around where the plant grows and do the rest in the black sand?

btw i love fishlore, i'm a bit new at this and i've learned so much already, you guys are great!

I think it would do just as well in the black sand as in the gravel. The sand is, as far as I know, inert, as is the gravel. Sounds like you've got a good grasp on things. Just keep the plant tabs around the roots, and you'll be good to go. Also, if you want to post a picture of your plant, someone will most likely be able to identify it for you.

If the plant grows well in plain inert gravel, then my guess would be that it should grow in inert sand as well (with the plant root tabs). Although a fine sand may not be able to keep a larger rooting plant in place (it may float up). But you can certainly try.

P.S. I assume the sand it inert.

That's definitelty a Sword plant, and I'd say the Amazon Sword I have grown this plant in inert gravel, under very low lighting, for a year. I think this is the easiest plant to grow (out all the Swords). I am not saying it will do well 100%, but based on my experience it will stay alive even in low lighting and plain gravel. Though you won't see any fast growth with this plant under low-light conditions and in inert gravel.
