Wally world plant bulbs

I planted two of these bulbs...One is growing at a crazy rate. It has been a little over 2 weeks and it is bigger than my hand. Question though...it started to grow this "spike" that is cruising out. At first I thought it was a leaf, but it never rolled out. Its the Diameter of a spaghetti noodle. Anyway. 3 days ago I saw it start. Today it has reached the top of my water. It looks like there is a little white tip at the end. Anyway...overnight it has grown 4 inches...really. What is this fast growing thing? Great looking plant.

That's a flower spike. They make a bit of a mess when they finish flowering, so I would cut it off. OTOH, it's kind of nice to see something flower in your tank!

I havent had such great luck with the wally world bulbs... one started growing great, one kept floating... then molded... then i took it out. Cant really complain though the other one looks great and is growing with very little light.

You really should pinch off the flower spike, since blooming puts the plant into temporary dormancy.

Not the very same, but yes same shelf at Wally world. Never grown the lilies but I had the aponogetons once. I hated them. They throw out so many freakin flower spikes. Ugh. Grew so fast I couldn't keep up with them. They are the reason I never had live plants again................... till recently!
