Re: should i worry?

I would scrub it off, it looks like blackbeard algae. Sorry for no responses sooner.

Re: should i worry?

I can't see it well, but does it look like this: http://plantgeek.net/articles/gg_algae_faq/bba_curt.jpg ? This type of algae can be black or reddish/purplish in color. It's called brush algae. AND ... it is a VERY BAD algae type! I have it ALL OVER my 30 gallon tank. Another bad news is that no algae eater will eat it (not even the good Bristlenose Pleco and Otos) EXCEPT FOR the true Siamese Flying Fox (Crossocheilus Siamensis), which is very hard to come by I will have to throw away all my decor from my 30 gallon tank with this algae type if I won't find an algae eater that eats this algae. It's IMPOSSIBLE to remove manually (by hand) when it's settled in for good. Sorry for all the bad news. This is the worst type of algae in my opinion. Well, not counting the cyano-bacteria type, which is deadly for fish; but luckily it's VERY rare is home aquaria.
