Hygrophila polysperma + Amazon Sword

I'm thinking of getting a Hygrophila polysperma and/or amazon sword and i was wondering if anyone has those plants and if they can tell me if they enjoy having those plants. Also if you have a picture(s) of those plants in your tank that would be nice.

Thanks

I believe we have some of that in our tanks...we thought it was something else tho.
Click on my signature or check out my pix in the gallery...I believe that this is what is in our tank...AMAZON tank. We do have amazon swords too.

The amazon swords are pretty good plants, though they are heavy root feeders and must be feed through the roots rather than leaves. Putting aquatic plant fertilizer in water wouldn't really help, you'd have to feed roots directly.

Hygrophila is considered a noxious plant in most states. You can get in trouble and/or arrested for taking it across state lines, in some areas of the USA.

Chief, lol , are you serious about Hygrophila? I've had it (but threw it away as it didn't grow too well). What states arrest you for "smuggling" Hygrophila? These plants are sold legally online. Besides, what do they mean by "noxious"? I didn't get hurt or sick because of this plant. Should I be worried? I've had physical contact with it.

Noxious means they are very very invasive.

I don't believe its illegal to own it, just that some states have laws on the books about transporting invasive plants in. (mainly since the kudzu take over here in the southeast.) Will make more elaborate post later, on my way to work.

Re: Hygrophila polysperma + Amazon Sword

polysperma is illegal to possess or traffic in/to some states. I asked Dino to be sure, he says yes that I am correct. It is not a big deal though. What cop is gonna go door to door to look for a plant other than pot?

Kinda like some New England towns have laws on the books about it being illegal to walk your elephant down mainstreet.

Enjoy your plants, dude.
