I've taken a huge sudden interest in having real plants in my aquarium. I still don't have the aquarium or the fish..but i've been doing my research and I wont have a problem with my fish damaging the plants. Though I DID read that puffers are messy! How would I be able to clean any waste under my gravel and inbetween if I were to have carpet plants like java moss all over it?

i have a heavily planted tank, and what i did was just kinda go around. it's not as important to get every last bit in a planted tank since the plants will use them as food. on the other hand, you don't want massive amounts of crud lying around.

I personally don't gravel vac at all, I let my plants have all the poop they can get. It dissapears in a hurry and once the plants fill in you don't see it anyway. And the plants if healthy should eat up any macro the decaying feces will generate.
