Keeping a cycle going for a week?

Okay, this weekend my beloved fry are dissappearing down to the LFS to find new fishy homes.

I plan on getting a betta at the same time, I hope, (I give fry, I get betta.)

If they do not have any in stock, what should I do to keep the cycle running until I get my new betta friend?

Just drop in flakes? (Pure ammonia is banned here, so that's out of the option...)

I'll add some filter media from my other tank as well.

Any hints or tips?

Thank you

A few flakes should be fine. Don't over do it though.
I know from presonal experience it can create quite a mess.

Can you run the filter or put the media in your established tank?
That should keep it seeded.

I wouldnt give them the fry until they can guarantee your betta boy/girlie....im sure if they want them bad enough, they will find one for you otherwise, you take a chance of the fish food causing waste and an ammonia build up ....goodluck !

Okay, I'll do a few flakes in the morning and evening.

And they're pretty reliable when it comes to following up offers, I exchanged a male guppy for a female once and they were fine. Even so, bettas are only about $7.50. I don't know if that's a lot or not, but I'd be happy to pay that for one any day. I did once see a lilac crown tail with green flares on it. The finrot was so horrific I didn't think I'd risk buying the poor little guy
