Pre cycle no filter

so I am waiting for my filter to get here it is going to take a week. I have sand rocks and wood in the tank with a heater and bubbler. I added pure ammonia the leavel is 8. I'm wonder will doing this help set up the bactira in the tank so that way when I add the filter it will not take as long to get going.

Has anyone tried this. I'm going to call it precycleing.

I think because you have the bubbler in there that will help a whole lot..8 is kinda high but I def think you could start getting some of that good bacteria growing...Most of the bacteria in an established tank lives in the filter but it also lives in the gravel, on decor, plants and any surface so I think it would jump start it. I say yes you can precycle. ...Not fully but at least get it started.

I agree with Choffman. It seems like your cycle would have to start. If you have any type of aquarium filter sponges or bio matter , I would go ahead an throw them in the tank as well.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too just wanted to see what other people thought. So hopefully the magic is starting now. I should have started this a week ago but I did not think to do it till now.

Thanks
