advice for stocking!

I have an empty 14 gallon in my room, all cycled and ready. Just did the test yesterday, and ammonia is at 0, nitrites are at 0, nitrates are at 3-4, and pH is at 7.6. Well, now the question is what to put in it? I am thinking a species tank. Also i know its on the small side, but what about Two mollies, or other live bearers? Any other suggestions would be nice. Again i would prefer a species tank..perhaps a shoal of cories?

Since your tank is kind of small, some Endlers woould be a good consideration. Their small annnnd vibrant.

i cant find endlers around where i live. I would just put another betta in it, but i need a fish that isnt so dependent on human interaction, because i cant bring it with me to school.

What about guppies (6)... or a school of neons (6)... or a school of rasboras (6).... all of those would go with a small group (maybe 3?) corys that stay in the 2 inch range

That would be pretty bad overstocking. It would work with just 1 school!

I would do a low tech planted, with 10 Neons, amano shrimp and 3 Nerite snails.

If you like live bearers then I would say guppies would be good with maybe a couple small cories. I like neon or cardinal tetras for schooling fish because of the color. Maybe even some rummie nose tetras if you dont like neons or cardinals.

Thanks everyone for the input. I went to petsmart today because i was passing by. After reading your posts, i thought about guppies..but petsmart was out of female guppies..lol. Also i figured if i got livebearers my tank would quickly be overstocked. I ended up with a school (6) of blue long finned danios. The sign said that they grow to be about 1.5 (even though im sure they can easily get to 2..but i'm still safe). Then i got a few ghost shrimp. I had some real plants in a fishless ten gallon so i moved them in the fourteen. They dont seem to be picking on the shrimp..so i hope it stays like that..Thanks again for your input!

Danios usually grow to about 2". Do you have pics? I'd love to see them!

I posted pics under a different thread, so here's the link:

Redecorated tanks

the fish are so fast though, it was hard to get a decent shot of them..i guess thats why they are popular dither fish. Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth! LOL
