help with water readings and my cycle

I've started testing my water and I need some help determining what the results mean...
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 1.0
Nitrate - 10
pH - 7.8
I know the Nitrite and pH aren't where they need to be. I know to keep the nitrite down, I just have to keep up with my water changes, but how do I bring the pH under control? I tested my regular city tap water and it was already at 7.6.

I currently have 2 x zebra danio's, 2 x guppies, 2 x molly's, 1 x swordtail in my tank.

I can tell my cycle has begun, but how much longer before it is fully running?

means your cycle is ALMOST there!! daily changes as some have said, and patience is the only answers...you are doing so well with it tho!!! ph is fine for now..your fish will acclimate to it..goodluck!

Hey dorcy,

How long have you had your tank running?

Assuming that you have had your ammonia spike already, your tank is almost done cycling. Give it another week or two and it will be all good.

The pH level is actually okay just to let you know, most fish can deal with a pH range of 7-8 without any adverse effects. I wouldn't bother adjusting the pH for the fish you have right now as they all can deal with it.

Good luck with your tank =]

It's hard to say how much longer.. is that nitrite reading the highest reading that you've gotten so far or is it coming down from a peak reading?

What are you using for water conditioner? I'd recommend Prime, if you can get it. 25% water changes daily until the cycle is complete would be a good idea too.

I just did another test tonight...and all my readings are the same, except Nitrite is now down to about 0-0.25. The colour is so close to 0 that I'd almost say it was there...I guess this means my cycle is now up and running. YAY! Now I just gutta keep it like that. Thanks everyone
