Water changes during cycling

Quick question. Do you need to do water changes during cycling?

Hi Red,
If you are cycling with fish, yes, daily water changes are a must.

If you are doing a fishless cycle, you do not need to change the water.
Good luck.

Speaking of cycling....What should I do with my new tank? I filled it with water from Wills tank...Should I do daily water changes still?

IMO I would just watch out for the mini cycle, if u even get one, but otherwise do the maintenance changes you always have done....seeing how you used filter media, and other things from wills tank, hopefully it cycles fast without any nawty ammonia or nitrite readings...

No you check your readings after 7-8 days and change according to that...if your readings are ammonia, nitrite @ 0, and nitrates under 20, you are cycled and just you regular maintenance changes are needed....if they arent, then id do daily changes of water of at least 40% until the cycle finishes...but using bio-spira, SHOULD cycle the tank just perfectly....
