Do It Fishless

PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For newbies or even the experienced fish keepers, DO NOT cycle your tank with fish...the ammonia and nitrites, that the tank has to go through to be cycled, is very very poisionous to the fish....sometimes its a very slow, painful process ..almost like a half a teaspoon of cyanide in a humans cup of ...would you knowingly drink that ?? ewww...

this link that fishlore has set up for everyone, is GREAT!!

If anyone still needs convincing, try taking a few whiffs directly from an open bottle of ammonia some time. It's not very pleasant to us, but to fish it's lethal. It burns their gills. Also, it helps to understand that nitrites have the roughly the same affect on fish as carbon monoxide has on humans--it impairs the blood's ability to carry oxygen. Personally, I would never lock anyone (especially loved ones) into a closed garage with a running vehicle, but that's just the sentimental fool in me.

Actually DON'T take a whiff of AMMONIA.....it is POISEN, and should not be intentionally inhaled.

Years ago I worked in Blueprint production with a machine that has long since been garbage canned....it used ammonia, and we had to go through extensive training, and use masks to be in the same room.....

But the point is....fish should not be subjected to it in their tank water....do the FISHLESS CYCLE!
