Nitrate question??

Yes I did a search and I could not get a good answer to this question. So allmy water chems are at 0 exept my nitates which are now at the middle color on the card..dont remeber teh specific number...How does that happen without any of teh other chems going up? I recently had a bout of ich that appeared shortly after adding new fish I dont know if maybe the meds could have had something to do with it So for now I am starting to do daily water changes and I put the nitrasorb back in the filter that I took out when treating for ich..any other suggestions?

Your bacteria converted the nitrites immediately into nitrates.
Since your tank is cycled, it shows the bacteria is doing it's job.

If I remember correctly, your ok with a 20 reading. Water changes will keep the nitrates down.

Hi There,
I agree with Lucy! Your tank is still cycled even after the meds. Lucky for you... try to keep those nitrates below 20. 10 or lower is the best numbers to try to achieve.
If you want, and you are done medicating you can also add some activated charcoal to your filter for a few days to get out any residue meds in the water along with your water change.
