At a complete loss

HELP, sorry for the length,
I have a 52 gal tank I set up the last week of December. I tried cycling with 8 zebra danios. Added CYCLE (I know now that wasn't the right thing to do), with the fish. After about the first week, the ammonia started to rise to about 1.0 on API test kit. Within a few days I was also getting readings for nitrite. I added two rainbow sharks, three green corys and two angels. I kept up with the weekly addition of CYCLE and by the end of the 5th week I had about 10 - 20 on the nitrate, but was still having readings between 1.0 and 1.5 ammonia, as well as 0.5 - 1.0 nitrite. I changed between 5 and 10 gals of water every other day once the ammonia started going over 1.0 but still had ammonia over 1.0 and nitrite around the same, in addition to the nitrate. Now 6 1/2 weeks in, I added BIO - SPIRA in hopes to help, after 48 hours the nitrite was gone but ammonia was about 2.0, and nitrate was around 10. During this time, I lost 3 zebras, two of the corys and both angels. I didn't know what to do, so I put the fish in a bucket of tank water and completly drained the tank and started over. This was last week, about 8 days after adding the bio - spira. When I refilled the tank, I only used bio- spira, nothing else, except for API tap water conditioner. After 48 hours I am back to 1.0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, and 10 nitrate. I want to add more fish but I don't know if I'm cycled or not

Hi!

Your not cycled, you shouldn't have cycled with fish. Give it time, and do daily water changes.

thanks for the quick response. I know i shouldn't have tried cycling with the fish. I just can't figure out how I can have ammonia and nitrate, but no nitrite. the fish that are left are very active and show no signs of stress

Hi!

What are you going to do about the Goldfish? They can't live in tropical temps and will eat your tetras eventually.

Hi!

Wait - I'm pretty sure I saw '2 goldfish' in your aquarium info. Sorry, it's 10 in the morning...
