my test results are in.

for my 10 gallon tank which has been cycling for about 1 week two days. (contains 3 dwarf rainbows and 4 neon tetra)

ph 7.6
high range ph between 7.8 and 8.0
nitrate 0 ppm
nitrite 0 ppm
ammonia 0.25 ppm

i can't wait until my tank is cycled, looks like it's gonna be a while. in the meantime, i've been doing daily water changes ... is this right? whenever i do them, the fish seem to almost immediately perk up.

oh and for any of you canadian fish lovers. http://www.mops.ca is amazing! i ordered this product on the weekend and it was delivered to my door this morning! (monday). that's pretty awesome.

it does take longer with fish in the tank. next time you test, try testing before and after the water change to see what effect it's having and what the fish might be feeling before the water change.

Re: my test results are in.

At that high of a pH, you will definitely need to do daily water changes as your ammonia will have a high toxic content. You might want to consider a water treatment like Prime or Amquel+ to detoxify the ammonia (and eventually nitrite and nitrates). This will make it safer for your fish. You will still need to keep up with the water changes, but this will make it easier on them.
