bio-spira in partially cycled tank????

I have had my 29g tank set up for about 2 weeks. my ammonia = .25-.50 but i usually do a water change before it gets to .50. My nitrites are .25 and no nitrates present. would bio-spira work in my tank to speed up the process? I have 5 danios and 2 platys in it now. thanks in advance any advice would be great!

Re: bio-spira in partially cycled tank????

Bio spira is meant to be used in a tank with no ammonia. If you have existing ammonia in the tank, you can still use bio spira, but it has to play catch up because the bacteria won't be in large enough numbers in the beginning to consume all the ammonia as it is being produced by the fish. Since you already have ammonia in the tank, it would be best to do as large of a water change as you can without hurting your fish, add the water back in, and then add the bio spira.
