Re: results

Nitrite will spike up to some level, and then gradually begin falling to zero.

Re: results

When did you start to cycle your tank? Cause i'm doing the same right now and I started last sunday, but I don't have any readings as of yet.I feed the tank and I put some gravel, plants, decoration and filter media from my established tank in.So I'm still waiting

Re: results

If you were gone for a couple of days and no longer feeding the tank with an ammonia source, you may be getting "false zeros"...the existing bacteria just ate up whatever was still in the tank at which point you will no longer get readings. I would start feeding the tank again for a few days, in the same amounts you were before your trip. Monitor your parameters to see if you start getting readings again, in which case your cycle is not done.

Re: results

thats whats i thought ....cuase a week isnt fast for 55 gallon...i took one of my old filters and removed the carbon and then i put it in there and kept ringing it out like a sponge untill no more would come out and that helped starting the cycle.....i love you
