Re: indicater light

If it is constantly flickering it needs to be replaced.

What kind of interval of time passes between on and off? every 10, 20, 30 minutes, or seconds?

Re: indicater light

Could be anything from manufacturer's faulty work (Every manufacturer in every field has a percentage of product that will be faulty due to a piece not getting sautered, a missing piece, etc. Quality control has a job due to the fact that there will always be imperfect product when humans are making it.) to it being a lower quality heater. Neptune and topfin are two of the lesser quality aquarium brand names.

Re: indicater light

I have five heaters (submersible) by 3 different manufacturers and all of them go on and off intermittently. It's normal. Most all heaters go off even before the water reaches the set temp. I think they do that so they won't get too hot and scorch the fish.
