where to find tera cotta pots

I have seen so many members tanks with tera cotta pots and I would like to know where to get them? Are they something special for fish tanks or the regular pots you see at home depot? If they are the regular one, how do you get them in half?

Thanks much

I think there's a thread in the DIY section of the forum about how to cut them.
I got mine at walmart. I looked recently becaus I wanted the saucer part, but they had put all the summer garden stuff away.

If you have a Michael's craft store in your area, check there. They have clay pots in all sizes, including really tiny ones ! I bought a few for my container pond, and aquarium.
The ones for my tank are really small, about 3 inches high, and an inch diameter, perfect for rooting plants (plus, they look just adorable ---soooo teeny!)

Yeah I second Michaels. Home Depot has them, but doesn't have the really small sizes if you want to go small. However, if you want the saucers to match for some reason- the smallest of their sizes don't have them.

Do they have to be treated first before going in?

I just rinsed mine really well before putting them into my tanks. I have to go back to that DIY article on that and reread it. Tommy and Michael had a horrible time cutting some of the pot bottoms for me to make BN caves.

You can also find them at plant nursery stores. It's those places that sell baby plants and stuff and they don't really have a building it's more of an open field with baby plants and trees.
