Up and running... now for the hard part..

I just spent the last hour and a half filling up my tank, and getting the filter going. It was ridiculously loud in the beggining, and it really bugged me. i played around with it and now you can barely hear a humm out of it

anyway, i am about to finish rinsing the last couple bags of gravel and adding the deco. I was thin king maybe doind 3 inches of gravel at the bottom? also, i am going to heavily aquascape, making it look like a sunken tree, some large branches, lots of large rocks, and lots of plants. I am about to begin cycling the tank. The filter is about a foot big! it is tremendously huge, but it does 360 GPH, so i think its good enough. The filter, ahs a slot for a cartrige bag with carbon, but i havent began using it, and am likely not to use it. It has 2 large compartmens with sponges and in the inside it carries a tube with 6 bioballs

As far as stocking goes, i am going to give Angels a try. This is my stocking list so far:

2 angels ( most likely marbled)
6-7 red eyed tetras
6 cory cats

thats my list so far.
just thought i would share

ps pics soon!

lol if o told you how much i struggled for it, u wouldnt believe me! I had to paint a womans house to get enough $$$ for the filter. I was exposed to dangerous fumes, got headaches from the fumes, got a little happy from the fumes (if you know what i mean)
lets just say im glad to be done with that and just stare peacefully at my tank

Thanks!
Lol yes its yesterday's DW

lol the rocks i usually go around the neighborhood and pick the rocks i like. I soak them and scrub the heck out of them and then add them to an established tank to get it established. Then i add it to the tank

lol you should have seen my 10g and the 2.5's with all the sponges, plants, rocks etc.

Ok everyone, my filter flow is really powerfull, it swishes the water at the other end to the point where its making some water drip. The out take is below.

Is there any way i could make the flow less powerful? It also has a little switch that supposedly lessens the flow. i put it to the least possible and its still too strong. Help please

Where the water comes out of your filter you know that little like deflector piece?
Right now you have the "lip" of it on the top, put the lip part so it is closest to the front of the tank.
This way it will aim the water flow at the back glass of your tank, that should slow down the flow.

Yep just turn it so the water hits the back glass as it comes out, that will slow it down a bit.
