What could be cool is if you get a lot of little PVC end pipes, get silicon glue, and roll them in gravel to make the caves. The shellies could also use them, and it would be cool to see them going in and out of caves. You'd need a lot of caves though. Not sure what you could do about the ring, if they make rounded PVC, just make that, and coat it in like gold sand with the same method...
