Best live plants to compliment driftwood

I've been considering a few live plants. But many of these would make my tank look a little dreary. I am looking for plants that would add more of a "natural" look to it and compliment my driftwood. I already have wedged two clumps of java moss in my driftwood. I'm also looking for tall plants to go along the sides and back of my tank. Also plants that require low to modeate lighting would be enough. Any suggestions?

I like anubis with driftwood. If you tie it to the driftwood with something like fishing line in time it will attach itself. Also it is a low light plant.

Anubias as Brian said or java fern (all types) would be best tied to driftwood in low light.

Or for something different you could try Bolbitis sp. which is also low light and unique looking.

Anacharis would do nice as a background plant.
With 1 watt per gallon your fairly low light but you might be able to pull off Crypts as well.
What plants look dreary to you?

Oh, I have 2 WPG in my tank. Two 10 watt coral life mini compact flouresents.
Plants that are like a dull brown/blackish color because of my gravel. Since I have dark colored gravel mixing it with dark colored plants wouldn't look to good. I prefer brighter greener plants too.

I also heard that it was named a weed and is therefore illegal in some states? Is it illegal to sell in PA?

2 watts opens things up alot! Sorry I misread your profile.
Swords (smaller varieties as they will get quite big!), Crypts , Cabomba, Watersprite has the nice green color your after and does wonders for excess nitrate.

What do you recommend is better a background plant, the swords or the watersprite? I am also looking for good tall grasslike plants for the sides of my tank.

Java fern grows tall with good care. My friend has java fern thats about 9" tall. I have java moss that really makes the tank look more natural if you strategically plac it from under small rocks and through segments of driftwood. Anubias species also grow well under low light. All these plants can be weighted down with a rock or tied to decorations with fishing line, and within a couple of days, the plant will attach itself to whatever its been tied to.

Vallisneria is a nice grass like background plant. THey have a straight version as well as a twisted version called spiralis.

I have both watersprite and swords but for a 10 gallon I would go for watersprite. It grows very fast so that would be a bonus.

That looks great! I think im gonna use the watersprite for the sides of the background and use the Vallisneria spiralis in the middle. I'm also gonna throw in some java fern and maybe something else if it looks neat and works for my tank.

Plus 1 reputation point for you
