another sand?

i would like to put a partial sand bar in the back center of my 55, my question is would it mix badly with the aquarium gravel already in there or would it look ok? ,thanx all

would look cool until cleaning day ...then its tough as heck not to mix together..but certainly do able!

only in a terrarium ...so it was just a small area at the back of a 30 gal that had grave/sand for newts and anole's I had to keep clean not a 55 gal area..

lol, yeah it's going to mix quite a bit. eventually the sand will make its way to the bottom and the gravel to the top.

you could try and make a barrier out of pyrex/glass and use silicon to 'stick' it to the bottom of the tank, then fill one half gravel and one half sand
