aquascaping the small tank

Being a betta addict I'm faced with the challenge of trying to making an interesting tank out of (my current challenge) 2.5 gals of water. The real issue being that plants are mostly out (no light on tank) and water displacement quickly becomes an issue.
Anyone seen our done and cool aquascapes for this small of tank? Or even jsut have bits and pieces of an idea for one? I've got 4 tanks between 5 and 2.5 gals that need facelifts but I'm not sure what to do...

Here's what I've done in my 2.5-5g sections...
Clay pot on its side
Plants (can be fake)
Little caves, like the decor sold at petstores
plastic pipes covered with something (in my case, java moss) you could also stick fake flowers/plants on the outside.

I recently found some info on aquascaping that made me want to get started with it right away. Found pics online from the International Aquascaping Contest. They have a whole category just for small tanks. Here's the link: http://showcase.aquatic-gardeners.or...tegory=0&vol=0

a lot of these are about 2 gallons.

Another idea I just had was maybe you could arrange all your small tanks on a shelf or desk next to each other with one long light over the top of them. Then you could decorate with plants too.
