Good morning.
I hope everyone had a great weekend.
I was watching my Bloody Parrots (BP) spawn last night.

I had two pair laying eggs all weekend. Something odd happened last night though. My largest female approx.8x6 was evidently so full that she couldn't wait for a male any longer. She was swimming around the top of the tank then all of a sudden she expelled her eggs and they went every where! It was a feeding frenzie to say the least. Every fish in the tank just went nuts! I felt so bad for her. This morning her papilla is still exposed so I don't think she is finished. I have never seen anything like it. There were so many eggs and I didn't even have to feed my fish last night. Eggs in my tank, even if I have fertile males, will never make it to fry. Once the eggs are laid, even in a prepared nest don't have a chance. As soon as eggs are expelled the nests are swarmed and all the eggs are devoured.
My Pleco was in full defense posture, all his fins up right and spread out and he too had a feast right in the center of an egg nest and the BP's could not budge him.
I'm a little sad about it all but I'll get over it. I love the BP's so much I know they would make wonderful parents if they only had the chance and everyone was fertile.
