Juvenile Silver Dollars/EDIT Fish Moved

Hello. These new guys are still in quarantine in the 26g with the snails until at least the 15th of this month. They are really cute and very friendly to be so young.

The second photo shows my juvenile Bloody Parrot with my larger Silver Dollars in the 265g. Then two odd shots of my 265g tank.

Hope you enjoy. I have lots more film!
Ken

That third pic looks like a standoff

The juveniles are so small when you compare them to the others. Congratulations on your new babies

Oh, man, whenever I repaint the walls in my house, I'm definitely going to be bugging you for your opinion on paint colors

Hello BB. The 3rd photo is a juvenile against the world! lol
I love to paint! I actually used 3 different shades of blue in there. It has a very cool (temperature) feeling.
Thanks!

LOL Hello Lorabell. I will have someone take a photo of me in it tomorrow and post it next week. Chef's hands are not too steady. He has tremors.
Hope you're doing well! Thanks folks!

Congrazt on your new babies! Your tank is beautiful. SDs are so cool to have, I have 3, would love to get 2 more but don't have the room. lol I guess I will have to upgrade to a bigger tank in the near future.

Hello AlyeskaGirl and thanks for the compliments. It's great appreciated. I've always loved SD's and I've had them throughout my many years of fish keeping.
Have a good weekend!

Hi Ken!

Cute Silver Dollars. The new tank looks great!

I love the muted colors in the tile. The whole room looks great!

Did you promise us a picture of you swimming in the tank? Lol

So you displace some water, so what, you have a tile floor and a drain hole right?

Hello Sue! Hope you're doing well. Thanks for the compliments. I hope to have some photos next week with me beside the tank so everyone can see how large it is.
Take care,
Ken

Great Pics. The Dollars certainly look outnumbered in the big tank! Certainly need the babies in there. Are you still going to get the other Dollar varieties?

The blue walls certainly bring out the colour combination of the Parrots and the Dollars. All come together very nicely - love the driftwood too!

Hello Life! Hope you're doing well today. Thanks for the compliments. Yes, the Dollars are out #'ed at the moment. Once I add the new 3 it will help to even it out a bit for certain. I'm actually going to consider myself stocked after adding the 3 Dollars and the snails. However, I've left a little room (as far as my idea of stocking is concerned) for 2 or 3 more Dollars just in case I happen to run across the other breeds. (Red Hooks and Striped).
Have a good weekend!

Hello gmen. As long as the Bloody Parrots (BP)are added last everything should be fine. If not, the Silver Dollars may be chased around a little while by the BP's. After a while the BP's tend to forget about the new additions and treat them all as family. It's those first few minutes of the introduction where hiding spots for the Silver Dollars could be crucial

Silver Dollars moved to 265g

Good morning. I decided to go ahead and move my juvenile Silver Dollars (SD) to the 265g tank this morning. They have been in quarantine for 11 days. I did tests on both tanks and with the results I received the time was perfect to do so.

The SD's are holding their own and swimming all over the tank as a trio. They weren't chased any where near as badly as the Cory Julli's were. That was a relief. I'm sure by late evening or tomorrow they will be schooling with the adults. It's too cool seeing them all together. Photos soon for comparison.

I still have my 4 snails in the 26g quarantine tank. I'm going to move them once I restock the 26g. (or at least 2 of the 4 for now) I'll feed them as usual and then tomorrow morning I'm going to buy some type of gold fishes (maybe a rescue from WalMart depending on what they have and what the LFS has). I did a small water change, removed all the plastic plants and the heater. I left the heater clamps on the back glass and then attached my java moss to the clamps (moss I received from one of our members a while back) so it looks like the moss is growing from the back glass. It looks pretty cool. So I have the java moss and 1 anubia both doing well for now. We'll see how the goldies deal with the live plants. The SD's didn't bother them at all much to my surprise. However, goldies w/plants may be another thread

I'll keep you posted!

Thanks for reading!

Hello Lorabell. They were doing fine last night and the trio were sticking together. They are still getting to know the adult Silver Dollars. They are staying close to them but not actually schooling with them just yet. I'm sure they will though after a few days.
Take care!
