Coy Bloody Parrots

My boys and girls being "coy". Please note no "rowdiness" in my tank!
Ken

Notice the bright pinkish color on the one female with the exposed papilla.

Thanks BB. I'm looking forward to having them in the 265g and giving some company to my lonely Cory in there now who is an elder.
Ken

Hey BB. They actually do turn that color of pink around the gills and bellies. It isn't something wrong with the lighting or the camera. I'm glad the camera captured that for future reference.
Thanks BB
Ken

I'm glad, too! It looks fabulous against the orange, even if it does mean they want to frolick a bit

Glad to see my julii corys arent the only ones with the goldish color to them.

When we get fish I inspect them like crazy so i can later tell if anything is "off"....mine in the begining didnt have that goldish to them. then I looked the other night and they did i was a little worried.......I like the goldish color tho with there pattern :P

Hello Heather. I think they change colors a bit like many other fish depending on their mood. They sure are fun to watch. Seems they get more active every day.

Thanks Tony! I appreciate that. When I sit in my chair it's pretty neat to have to look up...just having that much water around is neat in itself.

WOW..Ken, those are monster Parrots! I never realized how big they will get, they make a 265G seem small. They are gorgeous! The silver dollars and that tank is just awesome looking. I love the round stone substrate. I don't know about you, but I would panic putting those little julli's in with those monster fish, won't they try to eat those little corys? ( beautiful! )
That tank hopefully will appear in tank of the month..

Hello Mare! Nice to see your text as always Thanks for the kind words. Once I get all of the plants in the tank that I want, maybe I'll post a photo in the contest. Too, I'd like to wait for a digital photo as well.

I don't think the Bloody Parrots (BP's)will bother the Cory's too much especially since I'm going to add all 3 at the same time. The BP's won't know which direction to turn. lol (hopefully) They don't bother the common Cory that I have in there now at all. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed though because you never know.

My largest BP is 8.5 long by 6.5 tall. I wouldn't be surprised to see them reach 10" but I think that would be their maximum growth. Shawnie mentioned that she has seen one reach 12".

Take care and keep in touch!

Thanks Lorabell. I'll get in one of the digital photos when my neighbor comes down to take them for me It's just too neat to have all of that water over my head when I sit on the floor and look up. Kind of makes me feel like I'm in there with them.
Keep in touch!

I really think the fish would let me and they wouldn't think a thing about it other than "did you bring dinner too"! LOL

I'm sure somewhere in some other threads a discussion was had about you standing next to the tank in a pic to get some appreciation for how big the tank is.
Every time I look at your pics, the tank appears smaller - I'm sure having you stand alongside will put it in perspective! I think I would have some support there!

Thanks folks. I will get in picture soon Life. I know my photos do not give my tank and fish the credit they deserve Maybe I'll get one with me on the 3 step ladder in front of it as well. I'm always open to suggestions even when photography is concerned.
