| | Moderator | Chef Good morning everyone!
Here are some photos as promised. Sorry it took so long but you know me and my 35mm camera! I was told that I've been too "nawty" to ask for a digital camera We will see.
This is Chef prepping past Friday nights dinner. It was a "thank you" dinner for everyone that helped to get the new tank into the new room. This is only a fraction of the food he prepared. It was a feast to say the least. New York Strips, garlic bread, carrots, broccoli casserole, grilled potatoes and then some. It was awesome. Thank you Chef! There was 14 of us that night.
Hope you enjoy the photos,

| | Moderator | Construction Outside Here is an update on the construction. If you'll notice where the insulation is exposed, that is the opening we had to leave in order to get the fish tank into the room. It was a tight fit but we all managed to get it in there without any problems. I'm so greatfull to have such wonderful neighbors and friends. The tank was too big for us to take through the house and into the room.
Some questioned why I enclosed the room and blocked the view of the water. We can still actually see the water in 4 of the 6 windows. I wanted the horizontal windows up high for privacy reasons. Too, we have a full view of the creek from the upstairs screened porch. There will be a lot more going on in my fish tank compared to what is going on across the creek. All woods.

| | Moderator | Transport The photos below are of the trailor that we used to transport the tank and stand. Another wonderful neighbor helped us out. It's an hour drive each way to the LFS. He and his wife are wonderful friends of ours. He was in the area the day we got the tank and he said he would meet us there. Thanks Friend!

| | Moderator | Inside w/tank Here it is!!!! Finally! What I've been waiting for, for the past 6 months or so. The contractor is out of the room now. All that is left is the outside and to put on an entrance door over to the left and I can start filling the tank. The window frames have all been completed since the photos were taken. I still have to paint the remaining walls. Only the tank wall is painted.
Thanks everyone for listening to me all these months. I'll try to get better pictures so you can see just how big the tank really is. Maybe I'll slide into one of the shots!
Thanks again,

| | Fish Keeper | Hard to believe the day has arrived! I recall you mentioning in my early days of your intentions, and you had the kitchen to commence. That was 6 months ago? All looking great. That must have been a 'heart in mouth' trip on the trailer.
I don't know if I would have coped. It looks obviously huge, but until you stand next to it.... |

| | Moderator | Thanks Shawnie, Life. Yes, close to 6 months. We started the kitchen the first week of April. ok twist my arm. I'll get into one of the pictures next time. lol I'll place my 3 step ladder in there too. It's going to be difficult trying to get the plants in the bottom without falling in.
I'll post more pictures of the room as it progresses.
Ken
ps
Swilkins I made sure to get shots of the empty tank just for you! All of the photos were taken while I was sitting on my bed. knows the truth....

| | Moderator | Thanks Lucy! I'm "ready"! lol The best is yet to come. It's so nice to be able to have this site and to share my experiences with people that have the same interests. Chef likes to look at the tanks but other than that he has nothing to do with the tank itself. He is a "washing machine" fan and goes to a washing machine forum. Some of the people there have basements full of running washing machines and dryers. It's amazing.
He'll sit in front of the washer and just watch it spin lol Whatever makes your boat float! lol

| | Moderator | Good morning Ken
WOW... that IS a HUGE tank! hehehee.. I am so happy for you. The fish room looks terrific and I love the window placement. That wall with the high window is perfect for the tank. I love the tiles on the floor and the wood slat ceiling.
Congrats to you.... and to chef also.. (for putting up with your MTS) hehehhee.. Your Parrots are going to be real excited about going into their new home. YEAAAA.... |

| | Moderator | Thanks Kate! It took a while didn't it? lol Chef is a good man
I tell the Parrots and the rest of the guys/gals that it won't be long until they are in their new home. I can't wait to see them in there.
I purposely had the contractor to put the window up high in the front so we could have access to it, have plenty of light and fresh air blowing over the tank and not directly on it.
I like the old style/lodge look so to speak. The window frames are butted up against each other instead of the precision angled cuts which I feel adds to the look that I wanted. Lots of wood. I love the ceiling The tile is the same tile that is in the bathroom. We had it all tiled at the same time a few years ago.
The crown molding and base boards are done the same way, being butted up against each other instead of the precision cuts. Nothing fancy and I love the look.

| | Moderator | hi Ken
yes, I see the perfect positioning of the window.. I know that is going to work out great. plus being up higher like that will also help push hot air out of the room. But you probably have a/c so that wouldnt matter much. lol
The look is perfect for your area near the creek.. down home and warm and comfy. I also like the ' cabin' look myself. But your new rooms are a bit more than 'cabin'.. if you know what I mean.
Best of luck setting up the tank. |

| | Fish Bum | I have to agree with Kate. One of my favorite things about the room (besides to tank of course ) is the horizontal window above it. It is like the windows are framing your beautiful tank! |

| | Fish Keeper | WOW!!! I absolutely love it. You have great friends to help with that monster of a tank. At least it was empty when you had to move it....I gotta move most all of mine with fish and water. You probably will fall in the tank planting for that little remark about your empty tank LOL. I am still hoping I have a really big work day "that day" so I don't fall apart seeing them moved. You definitely have to get a pic with you beside it or in front of it. I love the color on the tank wall. The windows are great. Great job I am really enjoying watching your room come together as I watch mine. I am looking for that light at the end of the tunnel and I am really hoping it gets here soon!!! |
