Construction has begun

Finally, construction has begun on enclosing my screened porch to be my new aquarium room. They started yesterday. Whew! It seems like it's been forever. The kitchen is complete! Yeah!!! I'll try to get pictures and have them developed this week and post later in the week. Having all of you to talk to about this over the past few months has really helped me to keep my sanity and get through it. It's greatly appreciated

Although I'm excited about the kitchen being done I'm more excited about my fish room (of course). I hate to set dates for completion (being that we have to go on the contractors time and not ours) so as not to get disappointed. However, hopefully it will be done within a month if not sooner.

I'm having to paint the entire downstairs now so that everything matches with the kitchen. Always something.... lol It's one large open room and it's going to be a lot better with fresh paint and matching colors. Too, I love to paint.

Thanks again for listening and sharing your thoughts. Look for before and after pictures soon!!!!!!!!

Yeah, we blowout the back of our cape 6 years ago and added a another full bath and 2 good size rooms, your home is taking over by builders and all the frustration with the plumbers, eletricians, one can't make that week, etc....my kids had to make do in the dinning room for a few weeks, but when it's over you'll soon forget about inconvenience.
Good luck!

Good morning. I thought I'd update you with a couple of pictures on the progress for my new aquarium room. It's coming right along. I'll have to order the tank with in the next two weeks. The aquarium has to go into the room before completion. It's too large to get it in there any other way. Thanks for looking!

LoL!! Now that's commitment. If you sell the house, the tank is part of the deal! Certainly a busy part of your life right now. What would you be doing otherwise? I am enjoying your adventure!

Good on ya ken. I can't wait till i get some spare cash to do my office as the fish room. I found some one that is getting out of the reptile business and is selling a 3 level stand with 24 10 gal tanks and lights and heating system for $175.00. Yes you read right 24 ten gal tanks. Yay Cichlids.

Thanks Life and Navy. Navy what a deal! You know pictures are going to be a must!

Life it's really nice to be able to share this experience and get opinions and ideas. I owe a lot of it to Fish Lore and it's members. It's really helped me to find the passion for the hobby again.

I'll keep the pictures coming BB

Thanks Mare! Hope you're doing well. The largest plants that you see are Spider Lily's that are native here. I actually got them out of the creek while we were in the boat a couple of years ago. They grow and grow in no time at all. Swamp plants We have a septic system and they really help to suck up some of the water.

If you open it to visitors let me know hahaha i'm local!

Looks great, can't wait to see the finished thing. How much gallonage are you looking at in there? You doing some rack systems of tanks or just taking them as is from the rest of the house?

Slug my original plan was to purchase a 96x24x24 240g aquarium. I've spoken with my LFS on several occasions (it's actually in Hannahan, an hour away) and I am now upgrading the new aquarium plans to 84x24x30 265g. For one reason or another they are telling me the 240g is no longer available unless I go custom made and then that would bump the price up by several thousand $.s This is fine. I may be losing 12" in length compared to the 240g but that's ok. I'll still be getting almost 25g more than originally planned and that makes me happy too, I'll still be under my $3000.00 budget. I'll be keeping my 26g bow front, (with plans on a 2nd one on down the road) to go on each side of the 265g. I'll probably be selling the 155g bow front seen in the picture.

That's the place. It's one of the best privately owned fish stores I've ever been in and the owner is so nice and helpful. He always returns my calls. That is also where I bought my 155g.
