| What is my angelfish doing? Hello
My angel is doing something rather strange, it will swim up to another angel so its face to face with it, it will then tilt its body forwards and shake itself. I've never seen an angel do this before?
Help please
Thanks,
Ben |

| Lol, its one of the little stripey ones following the double dark around, doing what I described, the double dark will either swim with it, or gently peck at its crest and then swim off lol, no injuries
EDIT: Now the gold one and the stripey one are both doing it together Last edited by platy ben; January 8th, 2010 at 02:32 PM.

| usually from 8-14 months (give or take a month) is when they get to serious breeding rituals....I still think your guys/gals are too young and are letting eachother know whose going to be king/queen in the meantime...are they still in the 34g tank with the 5 of them? you may really have to think about moving them sooner than later if so |

| Could be a dominance thing too i guess, the striped one looks kinda young. |

| @ Shawnie: Yup they are all still in the 34G, I'm going to start moving the koi outside as soon as the snow we have goes
@ Slug: Yeah, the striped one is only about an inch not including the tail, so very young. |

| I was then thinking the same idea, the biggest koi is getting close to 3" and that one will be the first one out in the pond. We dont normally have snow at this time of year so it shouldn't stay for long.
I guess I could just swap everything including filter media?
One problem though, the koi tank keeps getting diatoms, grr, and I really dont want to put my angels in a diatomy (best word I could think of ) tank. |

LOL @ DIATOMY
if the tank is cycled, the "diatomies" wont hurt them |

| How long before the koi can go outside do you mean?
It is cycled, but diatomies are ugly |

| I suppose I can't argue with that, I don't mind scrubbing diatoms if its for my angels
Errrm.... if we go back to normal january whether, and I start cooling the tank now, probably the end of january. |

| I have to agree with all the above thoughts You may even see them lip lock and shake each other
I agree they need more room but my gut feeling is their going to continue this behaviour until they pair.
Meanwhile Lots of plants (real or artificial) to break the line of sight and giving them plenty of resting/sleeping places should help alot. I personally would carry this over to the other tank when you move them. Maybe the unfamiliar tank will distract them for awhile. We can only hope.
Check this thread of mine out. This is why i said they could be thinking about pairing. The ones in this thread very vey tiny. Angelfish gone Bonkers..

| Well I have added even more Vals to my group so I have a subdued jungle area which they seem to be exploring a lot today
The same angel had stopped being naughty until around 12:15 PM fishlore time and since he/she has been doing it every now and again
Still no injuries though
EDIT: @ Carol. How big was the little angel in the thread you linked? in inches? Last edited by platy ben; January 9th, 2010 at 04:02 PM.
