dropping angelfish

I dropped my 2 new angelfish at the store in the check-out lane about 3 feet off the ground. They seem fine but was just wondering if u guys think they are ok. I just put them in my tank 15 minutes ago.

Re: dropping angelfish

Joe, please forgive me if you think I am rude. I am really not rude. But boy, did this post make me laugh!

And seriously now, if they look fine I don't think you should be worried. But observe them closely for a couple of days. Did you notice any marks on their bodies (ex. something wrong with scales or fins) that you think could be the result of the fall?

If they look fine, the most that could be wrong with them is probably a shock from the fall. But they should be OK after a short while

How old / how large are your new angels?

Re: dropping angelfish

thanks guys they are both pretty big about 3 in long and i'm not sure how old but today in the morning i noticed my koi angel at the top with it's lips out of the tank and when i got home from school it was dead. I'm going to get 1 or 2 more in the next week. The other one in there is doing great tho.

Re: dropping angelfish

Joe are they going into the 26 Gal? If so your maxed out on fish for that tank already. Think about the adult size of your fish in the tank when thinking about getting more fish. Your angel will get at least 4-6 inches.

Re: dropping angelfish

Your still maxed out with the 30 Gal. The one inch per gallon of water rule doesn't always apply. You have to consider the fishes body mass and adult size.
Name - Size - how many- fish inches

Platys =2 inches x 5 = 10 inches
Pearl Danios=2 inches x 3 = 6 inches
sail fin mollys=3 inches x2 = 6 inches
Silver Mollys = 3-1/2 in x 2=7 inches
baby mollys = 3 in. x 2 = 6 inches
B.Goby =1-1/2 in x 1 =1-1/2 inch
angelfish = 4 in x 1 = 4 inches

40.5 inches of adult fish
This is just considering how many inches of adult fish you will have in your tank in a few short months. Not even considering the bigger body mass of your angel or the fry your adult platys and Mollys will be havig. I don't want to discourage you. I just want you to be successful and your fish to be happy. but they won't be happy or healthy if their over crowded.
In a short time when you get your new tank will be enough time to get more angels(yes I know how tempting they are, I'm an angel fanatic) Hope this helps.
