| My 200 Gal planted Angelfish tank Hey all...
Finally i took some time to take a couple of crappy pics of my large outdoor Angelfish tank. Tank is low tech 200 Gal (8ft Long), fully planted, 128W + natural light...
Fish: (11) Angelfish, (6) Serpae tetra, (8) Black skirt tetra, (2) Flame gourami, (6) Clown loach.
Plants: Hygrophyla difformis, Egeria densa, Bacopa caroliniana, Anubias marble, Echinodorus, Vallisneria americana, Ceratophyllum submersum, Hydrocotyle verticillata, African fern, and some others...
It used to be a Walstad style natural tank, but i had to tear it down due to a severe algae outbreak because it gets too much sunlight. Several fish and plants died in the process, but its slowly recovering........
i dont have too much time to take care of it right now, because i'm extremely busy w/ work and my upcoming baby son but hopefully in the next months i'll be able to bring it into form and finish the sketchy provisional stuff... and take better pics |

| That fish tank is absolutely stunning, the best tank ever. How long did it take to make it so beautiful? How much did it cost too? |

| Thanks for the replies! Wow thanks for the comments!
I'm glad you all liked it...
So far the biggest challenge has been controlling the LIGHT. Because it is a bit more than just a fish tank; i'm actually using jungle-like landscape to provide shading, but the surrounding plants are still not fully grown, so it's not been too easy...
The temperature has behaved pretty well... ussualy constant on the high side (around 82F), its even a bit cooler than my smaller indoor tanks.
The angels love the space, but the thing they love most is the bugs that sometimes fall inside following the lights... between them and the Black skirt tetras they are having a banquet. At night while the lights are still on its pretty difficult to get pics of them as they are all lurking on top waiting for bugs to fall (and the ocassional frog!).
As for money... hmmm much of the things i did with contractors friends of mine in their time offs, so it may have taken a bit longer but i've been able to get good deals on almost everything... the most expensive though have not been the plants/fish, but rather the outdoor landscape (plants, roof and base structure), the canister filter; i had to spend some extra $ replacing plants that died the 1st time around.......
Will post some more pics and a few more details later today.
Thanks again |

| More pics..... Here's some pics from setting it up when it had a soil underlayer... then the new version.
The last one is a special 'fry' tank... Last edited by f1ea; April 4th, 2010 at 11:24 AM.

Then maybe you will enjoy these pics after some "slight" improvements
Fish have grown a little... they're having fun.
The pair of angels in pic #2 keep spawning. They've had 3 batches make it through free swimmers, but they end up getting eaten. I'm very tempted to breed them separately; we'll see, Gotta make a nice home for them...
