Koi Angelfish

About a week ago, before, I joined here, I went to the LFS to get a new fish for my tank (60 litre). At the time I had 3 Mollies and 2 Platys and asked the shop assistant whether I could get one of the little Koi Angelfish I saw swimming around. I'd heard they could be agressive so asked if it would be ok in my tank and he said yes.

However, I've recently been looking around and hearing that Angelfish can grow quite big, so now i'm worried my tank might not be big enough for mine. The shop assistant said the Koi Angelfish wouldn't grow any bigger but I'm worried now after what I've read!

My Angelfish (Halo) is adorable now he has settled in and seems really happy so the last thing I want to do is get rid of him!

ps. with my current inhabitants is my tank to small to get any more fish? I'd hate to overcrowd them

thanks for nay help anyone can give

I would say you were fully stocked before you added the Koi Angel. And I believe that Angel will outgrow your tank. So it sounds like the best solution is to buy a larger tank! (We really are a bunch of enablers here)

That's pretty upsetting I had no idea before coming on here that the people who work in these shops don't actually seem to know much about fish they said i could have 6 more fish in my tank, even i thought that was a stretch ><

Thanks so much for the advice jdhef, do you have any idea how big of a tank i would need for Halo to be comfortable? Will other fish be ok in a tank with him?

So sorry about all the questions but a daren't go back to the fish shop and ask now lol

Hello Shadow. The above link may help you a bit. Too, I would like to add that Angel's tend to be happier in tall well planted tank (fake or real plants) compared to longer tanks. I would like to see your angel in a larger tank as he grows (if he isn't full grown already.)
Best of luck!
Many of us have been where you are when it comes to getting incorrect advice from Fish/pet stores.

Thanks, that link was pretty useful I'm looking into getting a new tank as we speak. The tank i have atm is quite tall with tall plants so he should be happy in there until he grows, by which time i hope to have rehoused him anyway
