I recently purchased 2 small angels and put them in a tank with 2 apple snails. Everything seemed to be going fine until I noticed that the snails were floating on the surface of the tank. I thought they were dead and when I removed the larger of the two, he moved inside his shell. I returned him to the tank and the next day, they were moving around the glass. But to my dismay I noticed that they were missing their breathing tubes as well as their long antennaes. The only thing that they still appear to have is there eyes, which they seem to be keeping inside their shells. Because Angels are aggressive eaters, and will eat just about anything, I'm assuming they snacked on escargot. Will the apple snails grow back the missing parts, or will they just slowly die?

hi fishlips !!! not sure about them growing back missing parts, but I have snails with all my angels and they never bother them a bit...could the snails be lacking calcium or something ?

I also have an angelfish with apple snails and he leaves him alone. Do you have other tank mates?

I've never kept snails in a tank, but a friend of mine has some in with Angels, and it's not a problem.
